Defying Gravity

Prayer is when you defy gravity and speak directly to God. Have you ever considered HOW to pray? A few years ago, I visited with a 90+ year old woman and “how to pray” was the focus of our lengthy conversation. I’ve learned when the elderly speak…you L-I-S-T-E-N!!! My dear friend has since left the physical world to walk with the Lord and this entire post is dedicated to our talk. These are her words of wisdom God has compelled me to share…

“The reality is, my prayers don’t change God.  But, I am convinced prayer changes me.  Praying boldly boots me out of that stale place of religious habit into authentic connection with God Himself.”

~ Lysa TerKeurst”

She advised, when you pray talk in the present, “God, thank you for my healing. Heavenly Father, my healing works in perfect divine order!” She warned that many people make the mistake of thinking in the future… “When I get healed… blah, blah, blah!”  God works in the now; He doesn’t put timelines on things. Be sure to say it OUT LOUD. There is power in the spoken word. Every day repeat, “God, thank you for my healing. Heavenly Father, my healing works in perfect divine order!” And above all, believe… believe… believe!! If you have to… fake it till you make it. It really works.

If you’re struggling to get pregnant, then repeat: “Thank you Father for my healthy pregnancy!” Claim it. Ask. Believe. Receive. It will happen… no worries. Don’t even put it out into the universe that it will not happen or that you will miscarry!!! Once you set your intentions, the universe conspires to make it happen. So if you set a negative intention… yep, you guessed it… that negativity is coming to find you. Negative attracts negative then it just snowballs. Why not attract the positive instead. Win. Win.

When talking about your weight say, “shed pounds” rather than saying “lose weight” because the universe doesn’t want you to LOSE anything in this lifetime. Focus on the positive: “I’m thankful for the excess weight I’m shedding.” As you can see, this woman is incredibly wise. I’m grateful for all she taught me in less than an hour and I felt it would be unfair of me not to share her wisdom!

 Try it:

Another wise friend of mine gave me a PHENOMENAL idea: she suggested I create a God box. Basically, a shoe box decorated, but now you can buy really nice boxes with attachable lids. Next, write on index cards all of the things you’re thankful for in your life (even if the item you write hasn’t happened it… claim it by giving thanks as if it has already happened).

Then when you meditate, read each card ALOUD. Our voice has power, so it needs to be read out loud. When finished reading, put all the cards in the box; this is a way of lifting your thoughts, dreams, wishes, worries, and blessings to God.

When finished put the box away (in a closet or under your bed out of sight).  In a few weeks or so when you feel the need… pull the box back out and REPEAT!!

She said you will find many of the things have either been taken care of or come true and when you read those cards this time around you REALLY give thanks by repeating thank you several times.

“If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, it will be enough.”
